JUAN ANDRÉS ERRÁZURIZ
CEO ENAEX S.A.

In these uncertain times, large companies can take two paths. One is to hibernate and wait for everything goes back to normal, to strengthen the projects or challenges that had been previously planned. The restrictions due to COVID-19 slows everything down, so this option makes sense.

But, there is a different path that I want to invite you. This is to take advantage of time to innovate, experiment and try new ways to do things. We do not know how long this pandemic will take, but will be enough time to invest time in the most strategic. Let’s seize this moment in a kind of lab to experiment. What happens if I give this service remotely? or how can I be more effectively giving technical advices from other place?, how can I give my best service to the client? How can I understand their needs and/or pains?

Today, our clients are committed to give continuity and sustainability to their projects. It is the right moment to detect how we can help from our service and products, and through this path differentiating ourselves from our competitors.

We need to make difference, being more agile and innovative. Previously COVID-19, the competition was much more aggressive and this pandemic will make it even more difficult, because is a matter of fact that supply and demand has not decreased. Therefore, I encourage you to overcome stronger from this crisis, to be more united than ever so from the collaboration, we all target the same objective. I invite you to move on, to seek solutions to resigned problems and to, above everything, listen the needs of our clients.

Enaex’s VP E3A

When they offered me to write an editorial for this second edition, they asked me if I was ok to publish the photo that goes with this text. Watching it, I remembered that this photo was taken at the Enaex’s office in Santiago while ago. Something that seemed so simple became abruptly impossible today. Writing these lines locked down at mi apartment in France, I wonder: When is going to be possible to take a plane again and even more an intercontinental flight?

When they offered me to write an editorial for this second edition, they asked me if I was ok to publish the photo that goes with this text. Watching it, I remembered that this photo was taken at the Enaex’s office in Santiago while ago. Something that seemed so simple became abruptly impossible today. Writing these lines locked down at mi apartment in France, I wonder: When is going to be possible to take a plane again and even more an intercontinental flight?

In less than a month, 170 countries closed their borders. Many stablished internal sanitary cords and moving around became complicated or merely impossible. This affects us twice. As human beings, disable many to gather with their families that lives in different cities, regions or countries. As a company with global development ambitions, our people working far from their homelands, such as Chileans in Peru, Brazil, southern Africa; Brazilians in the United States, Australian in Chile, Europeans in Australia, among others, are experiencing moments of concern and we are present to accompany them and support them.

Today, we must face this contradiction were countries locked themselves up taking measures against the virus, while our business globalize with international clients requiring new innovation and knowledge, technologies and high standards  services.

How do we achieve it? The word that comes to my mind to describe our actions is resilience. By definition, a crisis is unpredictable, exceeds our previous understandings and does not respond to any usual rules. Resilience is not only your capacity to overcome the crisis, is our capacity to transform getting bigger and stronger.

Since the beginning of March, with agility, responsibility and relying in our autonomy and capacity of leadership of our teams, we have adapted to the specific situation in every country where we are present, ensuring the safety and health of our collaborators and imagining and implementing tailored solutions to continue producing and delivering our products and services.

From E3A (Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa), Davey Bickford Enaex continues operating their industrial plants in France despite the restrictions and quarantines. With many changes in terms of security and sanitary protection measures, masks, gel, social distancing, disinfections, new cafeteria organization, telework for administrative, technical and R&D teams and, above all, the commitment of the different teams to adapt to the new logistics, production, maintenance and product dispatches around the world despite the suspensions of our regular flights. From Australia and remotely, our teams continue to support our clients, ensuring the product delivery and high quality services.

I would like to illustrate by using the productions and logistic teams that managed to finalized and dispatched their detonator orders to Perth in Australia with the state of Western Australia confined and with no flights available. Also, products were dispatched between Davey Bickford and Sasol with both countries in full confinement and a total closure of activities in South Africa. This is how in April we managed to respect the delivery dates of our clients to more than 95%

This crisis stimulate our capacity of resilience and not just our resistance. We are acting, taking agile and fast decisions. We are transforming the way we work. We are imagining and experiencing other forms of collaboration, sometimes making mistakes and correcting, developing virtual reality tools, communicating remotely, solving problems and providing solutions.

Every one of us are capable of being resilience. Motivation, commitment, teamwork, solidarity that we are demonstrating are the best weapons to active our capacity of resilience and overcome stronger and closer from this period of uncertainty.

Find out Davey Bickford Enaex’s new investment

“In order to propose to our customers a new range of DAVEYNEL products and to be able to access new markets, DAVEY BICKFORD has decided to invest in a folding machine for the TCOC in the 8/0 roll format.

After a first visit of machines in operation, we have chosen a company located in Brazil with a good experience of this field.

From the beginning of the project, the contribution of our collaborator Didier Palléau from our Industrialization Department ( Didier is our industrialization referent for the DAVEYNEL activity) appeared as an evidence.

Thus, he participated very actively in all steps of the project : elaboration of the specifications, technical exchanges and development with the supplier, provisional acceptance on site in Brazil last October, implementation and startup with the supplier in Héry for more than 20 days in January 2020, support and training of the workers, elaboration of the documentation, support for the ramp-up of the machine.

Many thanks to Didier for his expertise, availability and professionalism which played a great part to the successful development of this project”.
