Technology as the basis for operational excellence

In order to analyze different KPIs for improving results on the advance fronts, test blasting was carried out at the Mariana Norte 525 mine, Cerro Negro, with the Davey Tronic Swift system.

This test consisted of carrying out alternate actions between pyrotechnic and electronic detonators to later analyze the results. The tests were successful and the client, Newmont, was very satisfied with these advances that allow first-class technological operations in the country and consolidate us as its strategic partners.

The KPIs involved are: decrease in over-excavation and under-excavation, increase in face advance, decrease in vibrations due to flexibility of the sequence and improvement in fragmentation.

We continue to generate stronger ties! We keep working to achieve operational excellence! We continue to make mining a safe and humanized activity!

SOUTH AFRICA

Building a culture of innovation

At the Weilaagte bulk emulsion site, Peter van Wyk, Ludolf Meyer and Salmaan Bhatti of Enaex Africa’s Mining Technical Solutions team are testing innovative digital technologies.

Comparing various digital Blendex ATM silo stock measurement systems generates storage reports that are transmitted to the Integrated Business Information System (IBIS), allowing accurate stock data to be obtained in real time. Previously, someone had to climb into the silo, measure the volume and enter the data manually, a dangerous exercise.

“With this new technology, we can track products from our plant to the silo, gravity fed into the Smart MMU, transported to the mine and pumped into a drilled well,” said van Wyk.

They are also testing a 6th generation truck controller proof-of-concept for real-time metering of inputs and outputs, flow rates and product levels, and automated deployment of hose reels in the future.

“This will take us to the next level of big data and machine learning in the five Smart MMU pumps: understanding their degradation over time and performing preventative maintenance,” he added.

Enaex Brasil was present at the Exposibram 2022 fair and won the award for the best stand

From September 12 to 15, Enaex was present at Exposibram 2022, one of the most important mining events in Latin America, held in the city of Belo Horizonte and receiving 61,000 visitors.

At our stand, we presented the operation of the Daveytronic Swift® through a simulator that reproduces a real scenario to use and program the product settings, in a space that represents an underground tunnel.

On the last day of the fair, our stand, integrated with the other companies of the Sigdo Koppers Group in Brazil – SKIC and Magotteaux – was chosen by visitors as the best of the fair, for the second time.

“We already won recognition in the last face-to-face edition, in 2019, and the expectation was high. We strategically chose the place and organized every detail to offer differentiated experiences to visitors, with the aim of transmitting the true values of Enaex such as innovation, sustainability and our customer-centric approach”, said the organization’s Marketing Coordinator, Jessica de Oliveira.

Enaex Brasil modernizes its electronic security system with a new integrated platform

With an innovative proposal to bring information, integration and intelligence to electronic security systems, Enaex Brasil inaugurated the new Security Operations Center. The project offers new high-tech features for more efficient asset security.

Likewise, the 1st phase of implementation of the Integrated Electronic Surveillance System (SIVE), an integrating platform that will centralize information, images and interface between security systems, was completed.

Integrated solutions such as Video Management Services (VMS), Facial and License Plate Recognition (ANPR/LPR) can be deployed together to form a security blanket around critical infrastructure locations. Video alerts can address future safety and security issues. On an industrial level, surveillance can also be used to monitor productivity.

“With this platform we will be able to converge information that subsidizes decision-making more efficiently. This project represents the commitment of Enaex Brasil to guarantee a high standard of security and control for its facilities and for society as a whole”.

FRANCE

Davey Bickford Enaex participated in the European scientific research program

Thanks to the scientific facilities of the Grenoble synchrotron and under the direction of internationally renowned scientists, Nicolas Crowther and Frédéric Boudier were able to analyze different shock waves created by our detonators, using very high speed X-ray images.

This work will allow us to better understand the operation of our detonators and, in the long term, improve their performance and risk control.

The synchrotron is a very powerful source of X-rays, produced by electrons traveling at high speed. It is used by researchers in many disciplines such as manufacturing of industrial and natural materials, biology, medicine, etc.
