We closed our 2022 with you, the year of Innovation!
Accompanied by the entire Enaex family, on December 14 we celebrated the closing milestone of our value Our Strength: Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which was the focus of our culture campaigns and various work, competitive, and learning activities during 2022.
Instead of talking about Innovation from the corporate sector, in this event we wanted to do something special and focus on new protagonists: our collaborators. The instance brought together different Enaex teams from all over the world, who told through video capsules their projects, initiatives and ideas based on innovation, as well as its importance in their daily work.
The event, the first to be broadcast and organized in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese, was also led by Nadine Szczepocki, Internal Communications Assistant at Enaex France and Antoine Moreau, Innovation Projects Coordinator at Enaex Brazil, who moderated perfectly each section of testimonials from our collaborators.

Enaex Australia breaks record in its first blast at the Carrapateena Cave Shaker project
The Enaex Australia underground team completed its first blast at the Carrapateena Cave Shaker project. This is the first explosion of its kind in Australia, setting a new record for the length of the shaft and the volume of the explosives.
The well was drilled to 350m and cased to 312m. The primary objective was to safely prime, load, and cap the well with two tons of ANFO and fire instantly. There are four additional blasts planned, with eight holes per blast with the goal of blasting the cave to the surface.
OZ Minerals was very pleased with the blast results and expressed gratitude for the way our team planned and delivered this critical project. We would like to thank the undergorund team responsible for this project: Tim Cork, Pete McCarthy, Greg Winter, Nathan Newton, Michael O’Connor and Murray Gordon.

Mining women from Enaex Australia met to discuss opportunities and diversity
Part of our Enaex Australia team spent an inspiring morning at the ‘Women in Mining New South Wales’ meeting during a recent breakfast at the Gunnedah Rugby Club.
Barbara McDonald, Coby Tweddle, Phoebe Smith and Derek Henning represented Enaex Australia that day and heard from Mach Energy’s Ngaire Maker and Orica’s Tiffany Chown. Both Ngaire and Tiffany shared insights from their personal mining journeys and explored the opportunities available to women in the modern mining industry.
Supporting a diverse workforce is important to Enaex Australia and it’s great to see female representation growing on the NSW project team.

Enaex Brazil's mine-to-mill project receives recognition at the 2022 Hatch Global Awards
The article “Integrated Optimization of Drilling, Blasting and Fragmentation Processes”, written by the EMTS Brazil area, based on a partnership between Hatch, Enaex and Lundin Mining do Brasil, won in the Metals category at the Hatch Global Awards, which recognize the best technical articles related to the projects that the company executes and that most represent its essence of leadership.
Its content makes an extensive analysis of the “mine-to-mill” optimization for the operation of the Chapada Mine of Lundin Mining, Brazil. The project brought with it a deep operational study and the development of mathematical models and simulations that maximize the performance of the plant and maintain the best particle size of the product of the fragmentation circuit.
In addition to being awarded the team’s recommendations, including proposed blasting guidelines to optimize mine fragmentation (ROM), are already being progressively implemented at the Chapada Mine. In 2023, the implementation will be complete.

The event lasted for 2 hours and had videos, awards, live music and prizes broadcasted.
In Matriz, after two years without the face-to-face event due to the pandemic, a special lunch was held with musical performances, tributes and dynamics with the possibility of winning prizes.
At the same time, teams from the Service Units and Distribution Centers also gathered for local celebrations. Thus we close the year with joy and unity, with the aim of achieving even more in 2023.

The new DaveyTronic® facility for the production of programmable electronic detonators was celebrated on November 30 with a groundbreaking ceremony.
CEO Francisco Baudrand and the Executive Committee of Enaex Africa presided over the ceremony, which marked an important milestone for Enaex Africa and for DaveyTronic®. The facility, at Enaex Africa’s Secunda operations, is the first of its kind built outside of France.
The detonators produced at the factory will be available to Enaex Africa’s operations throughout the region and will also complement the global supply when necessary.
“It is incredible to consider the progress we have made. We must bear in mind that manufacturing a robust and reliable detonator of this quality is not easy. Being able to produce blasting caps locally will allow us to really deliver the added value our customers are looking for,” said Michael van Wyk, Technical Advisor to our CEO.
