Hyex project for green ammonia production receives financial support from Japanese public organization NEDO

The Japan New Energy and Technological Development Organization (NEDO) – one of the largest public research and development organizations in Japan – will financially support Enaex’s Hyex project to develop the feasibility phase of the demonstration project.

The project in question would be the first green ammonia production plant in Chile, with an annual production of 18,000 tons, and is promoted by Enaex in cooperation with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui) and Toyo Engineering Corporation (Toyo), a Japanese company with which it signed a contract in November 2022 for the development of the project engineering.

The HyEx demonstration plan was adopted by NEDO to carry out the feasibility study during this stage of its development and will start in March 2023. In addition, during this preparation period it will have financing of 50 million JPY (equivalent to US$400.000).

During the course of the project, technologies for the stable operation of the green ammonia plant operation will be studied during the fluctuation of renewable energy from a photovoltaic generation plant. The construction will be in the town of Tocopilla in the Antofagasta region, in northern Chile.

Female postgraduate program at Enaex Africa: Bridging gaps and increasing diversity

The female postgraduate program was launched at Enaex Africa on December 1, 2022 and arose from the need to have a greater female representation in the company and correct some gaps from the past. The program offers graduates the opportunity to develop themselves and then become next in line for a supervisory or management opportunity in their chosen fields.

“The program consists of two streams: a postgraduate mining program and a postgraduate engineering program where graduates’ skills will be developed through classroom and hands-on exposure in the workplace,” said William Blake, Manager of Skills Development.

“The right amount of support, flexibility and training will help us to close gaps and develop innovative solutions that can achieve greater productivity and contribute to the growth of Enaex Africa”, said Bongiwe Maphanga, a collaborator who participates in the Bachelor of Technology program. Planta Rio Loa held an Astronomical Workshop in the Cemetery of the Chunchuri Indigenous Community

Planta Rio Loa Plant developed in conjunction with the National Museum of Natural History of Calama an astronomical workshop in which young people, adults and ancestors of the Chunchuri Indigenous Community so they could learn about the basic principles of astronomical science, including its history and the different disciplines that make it up.

The activity seeks to strengthen basic knowledge and principles about the Milky Way and astronomical arching, in order to establish the possibility of developing activities based on research through scientific methods.

"Dust Control Challenge" workshop ended with new initiatives and innovative solutions

Various areas of Enaex participated on January 19 in the internal workshop “Dust Control Challenge”, an activity that aimed to broaden the view of alternatives for Dust Suppression in mining operations and to establish a discussion that allows co-creating solutions according to the requirements of each client in a collaborative, aligned manner and with a definition of the approach strategy.

The workshop, which was held in the premises of the Santiago Corporate Building, lasted half a day and included the participation of the Innovation, EMTS, Commercial and Operations areas.

2 providers of dust control technologies were also presented and, to complement, Nittra presented a new solution for the mitigation of this problem.

As a result of the conference, various initiatives were obtained for the control of particulate matter, from the measurement plan, operation techniques and referral strategies.

Enaex Peru stands out with a beautiful shared value project

The TARPUY program seeks to strengthen agriculture in the community through the reuse of water with nitrogen content (residue from the production process in the plant). With the support of the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) – Cusco, and the hiring of a specialist professional, it was possible to determine the types of crops to be used in the project.

Thus, during the month of January, 183 residents of the Cachimayo community were trained on the use and dosing of nitrogenous water in different types of crops, and they also received 1,960 liters of nitrogenous water.

Use of the DaveyTronic Swift® electronic initiation system generates greater competitiveness in the operations of Enaex Brazil customers

From the second half of 2022, Enaex Brasil introduced DaveyTronic Swift® in the national market. The first blasting and case studies were carried out with the clients Ero Brasil (Minas Vermelhos and Pilar) and Acciona, which is the company responsible for expanding the São Paulo Metro system.

Development blasting was performed at the Vermelhos mine using the DaveyTronic Swift® electronic initiation system and the Enaplug™ accessory. The blasting resulted in increased ground speed, reduced overburden, and reduced fouling. This mainly represents more security, productivity and high-quality results.

The case study also presents additional benefits from the introduction of DaveyTronic Swift®, such as the possibility of drilling reduction and geometry improvements that promote the reduction of blasting cycles throughout a year, generating more competitiveness for our clients and greater potential to generate income. The work was carried out by the EMTS, Operations and Commercial teams of Enaex Brasil, in close collaboration with the client.
