With the objective of strengthening Enaex’s international development, building stronger bonds with our clients, and reinforcing our GLOCAL model by providing autonomy and agility in decision making, important changes were made within the Executive Committee.
Antonio Cyrino, current VP of Latam East, in charge of businesses in Brazil, USA, Mexico, and Argentina, will leave his executive position in the Company, effective July 1, to take a position on the Board of Directors of Enaex Brazil.
As of the same date, the Country Manager of Brazil, Joao Sorbile, and the CEO of Enaex Africa, Francisco Baudrand, will take the position of Vice President of Enaex Brazil and Vice President of Enaex Africa respectively. Both will report directly to Juan Andrés Errázuriz, CEO of Enaex, and will join the Executive Committee. This change is a result of the strategic importance of both subsidiaries and the growth of their operations.
In addition, the Vice President of Growth Markets and New Businesses, Miguel Ángel Peña, will assume the management of Enaex in Argentina, Mexico, and USA, maintaining his leadership in the businesses of Peru, Colombia, and Plasma.

The completion of four silos at Tharisa, an opencast platinum and chrome mine in South Africa’s North West province, marks an exciting phase in Enaex Africa’s establishment at our largest new customer.
At Tharisa, two mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) will be able to load road materials from a single set of silos at the same time – a design innovation introduced by Enaex Africa.
“It’s been a huge team effort since we started implementing the contract in November 2022. Tharisa is a complex customer, with ambitious growth targets. Completion of this phase of the project puts us in a good position to support the customer’s goals,” says Fabián Jadue, Senior Operations Manager.
“The new silos give the site four days of supply stock, mitigating against short-term supply issues. It also allows us to speed up the MMU raw materials loading to improve turnaround times for product delivered,” says Peter van Wyk, Sales Account Manager, Opencast, North West.
During the first week of June, the Zaldívar, Mantos Blancos, and Sierra Gorda Plants joined a project to digitalize the status verification of operational certifications of Factory Truck Operators. This project consists of verifying certifications through QR codes attached to hard hats.
Implementing these QR’s goes hand in hand with the culture and the four core values of the company. In the first place, it is linked to our priority value: life, since all our certifications aim at ensuring that each employee has their operational skills up to date. This allows them to perform their work in an optimal, safe, and comprehensive way, which, thus, contributes to operational continuity. It is also related to the value of excellence because this project makes training fundamental and visible to our teams.
One of the purposes of this initiative is to respond to operational indicators, through external certifications (chassis) and internal (Service Plant instructors), as well as involving the operator in the process, who can access his certifications from any place.
Enaex’s mission is to be chosen as the preferred partner for premium blasting solutions. With this in mind, we constantly seek to provide better safety and increased productivity for our customers. To achieve this purpose, the EMTS team has expanded its services in Brazil to customers in different segments, such as Open-pit Mining, Underground Mining, Aggregates, and Civil Construction.
In 2023, the team has already developed 24 projects for 23 clients, with emphasis on works for greater vibration control, optimization for blasting events, reduction of fines, among others. “The EMTS team is always looking for the best solutions to optimize our customers’ processes without increasing CAPEX and always respecting ESG norms and rules”, shares José Silvio Corsini, Area Manager.
The annual COALSAFE conference, held on 10 May in Johannesburg, gathered industry stakeholders to reflect on issues around this year’s theme, ‘Responsible Coal Mining Stewards’.
COALSAFE is hosted by the South African Colliery Managers’ Association to reflect on issues affecting the coal mining industry. They include the impact of coal mining on the environment and on communities, as well as social and governance matters.
“Apart from the obvious focus on safety, there was a lot of discussion around the relationship between mines and their host communities. This wasn’t only about reducing mining’s negative impact, but also about considering and understanding the long-term legacy of the industry on communities,” says Comfort Mathenjwa, Enaex Africa’s Sales and Marketing Director.
Enaex Africa sponsored the 18 safety awards presented at the event, with criteria based on the number of incident-free days and/or shifts that the mines had achieved in the preceding year.
During the month of May, Enaex Peru conducted the first direct dynamic pressure study using specialized equipment for its measurement. This meant a before and after in terms of safety and the knowledge about the effect of explosives in the field and the environment. Its main purpose was reducing the number of possible misfires caused by the exposition of detonators to pressure, which could jeopardize the life of people and the mining operation.
As it is now a tradition, Davey Bickford Enaex started a new internship process with students from the area. As a result, the students are able to complete their academic training and at the same time learn from the expertise of the employees of the Héry Plant.
This program consists of an alliance with several academic institutions in order to have multiple candidates and strengthen the bonds with the educational community.
Enaex Brasil is constantly participating in bidding processes, including Greenfield projects for opening new mines. The last contracts signed were with the clients: Mining Ventures, Ero Copper, Sigma Mineração, P.A. Gold, and Aura Minerals.
“With the growing demand for minerals related to the global energy transition, Brazil started to take part in important mining projects. For Enaex Brasil to be the preferred partner of our customers, we must be involved from the beginning of these projects, as it increasingly consolidates our position as market leaders. Another point worth highlighting is our new manufacturing complex in Cesarina, which represents a logistical advantage to distribute our products”, comments Danilo Vieira, Commercial Director. We wish the teams success in their new operations!
During the night of June 15, the first Street Route experience began. This meant going out onto the streets in conjunction with Hogar de Cristo for our employees of the Office located in Santiago to meet the homeless and attend their needs.
During the first night, they met 15 homeless people, who were given sandwiches and hot beverages during the beginning of the cold nights in the city of Santiago. In addition, they could provide them with warm clothes and non-perishable food, which were the result of a donation campaign of the corporate building.
The activity will be extended to June 22 and 29 from 19:00 pm to 22:30 pm, where new employees will have the opportunity to engage in this experience of giving support to those who need it most and attend their needs.
