ENAEX BRASIL HIRES FIRST SERVICE SUPERVISOR AND BOOSTS WOMAN IN MINING PROGRAM

We are pleased to announce the hiring of Enaex Brasil’s first female Operations Supervisor: Cecília Mariana Fortes Balbys de Arruda. This achievement is a significant milestone and reflects our commitment to promoting gender equality and diversity in the workplace.

We believe that gender diversity brings important benefits, such as promoting different perspectives and creating a more inclusive and innovative environment. Among several initiatives, we have a Young Apprentice Program aimed at girls, we work on the development of suppliers led by women, and we support social projects that value female empowerment. Women’s hiring goals are also one of our company’s main objectives, with an internal committee that specifically addresses diversity.

ENAEX AFRICA FOCUSES ON WELLNESS

Our Wellness Day event that was held across several Enaex Africa locations at the end of last year was a great success. The day highlighted one of our core values, Our Priority: Life. The purpose of the day was to highlight our safety, health and environment (SHE) culture through the theme Zero Harm.

Several different services were on offer on the day at five locations across South Africa. These included:

  • • Health risk assessments including voluntary HIV screening and counselling, body mass index, glucose, cholesterol, diabetes and blood pressure screening.
  • • Dietary advice with a dietician.
  • • Meeting an ICAS counsellor and financial advisor. ICAs is the Enaex Africa health and wellness partner.
  • • Eye testing.
  •

John Schultze, COO and SHEQ Director said the day was important to highlight operational safety and individual health. “These two areas have different components, but they go together. You cannot separate one from the other.”

The free sessions are a way for senior management to check the broader “health” of the company in a practical and meaningful way. It is important that all employees have the tools and resources to stay fit and healthy.

“The day was a way for us to show employees that we care for them and also highlight broader aspects of our focus on other stakeholders such as our customers and the communities in which we operate,” says Phumzile Buthelezi, People and Sustainability Director of Enaex Africa.

EL PEÑON PLANT GETS DOWN TO WORK

Underground Mining Management has officially started operations at El Peñon mine, located 160 km southeast of Antofagasta. Since 1999, the underground mine has maintained consistent gold and silver production.

Through the agreement between Enaex and the mining company, an extensive array of services is provided, including the supply of cutting-edge explosives and specialized technical counsel to enhance blasting processes. This partnership is expected to yield significant synergies, consequently improving operational efficiency and safety in mineral extraction.

This strategic alliance marks a noteworthy milestone, not only due to its implementation within 20 days, but also for the expansion and consolidation of Enaex within the mining market, positioning the company as a major supplier for underground mining in Chile.

Heartfelt congratulations to all the departments involved in making this achievement possible, including, among others, the Selection, Capacity, Operations, Remunerations, and People HRPBs departments.

DIGITIZATION PROGRESS AT CONSTANCIA MINING UNIT

At the Constancia Mining Unit, the year 2024 has started with complete transition to digital reporting, an important achievement for early conciliation, timely decision-making, and storage of information in the cloud.

The Mixer Truck operators at Constancia have demonstrated a high sense of responsibility and professionalism using the O-Pitblast. Their diligent efforts have significantly contributed to the implementation of the Enaex Bright System, a platform designed to integrate data from various sources related to the drilling and blasting processes, as well as signals, driving conditions, operational parameters, incorporation of cameras, and status of the mixer trucks.

As a result, the Constancia Mining Unit becomes the second operational site of Enaex Peru to achieve 100% digitalization of blasting processes.
