ENAEX AFRICA ACHIEVES LEVEL 2 BBBEE RATING FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

HELPING TO SAVE AN ENDANGERED SPECIES

Each spring brings new opportunities for nature to replenish fields, grow flowers, and allow species to give birth to new offspring. Over the past three years, the emulsion silo in Rush Valley has taken on a new responsibility to assist an endangered species in establishing a temporary home, giving birth, and fostering the development of Great Gray Owl chicks.

This year, three chicks are nestled within our silo walkway, snuggling against a warm and cozy silo filled with fresh, hot emulsion. (The best insulation in the world!).

These chicks and their parents also help keep rodents at bay, reducing the populations of mice, snakes, and gophers that could invade our facilities and destroy our infrastructure.

Due to the lack of trees in central Utah, these owls seek refuge in silos to evade predators and gain a better vantage point from the heights to spot potential prey.

ENAEX OPENS CEZARINA SITE

Enaex Brasil has in its strategic planning the goal of boosting its results in the coming years. This challenge is associated with the forecast growth of the mineral sector in the country. According to the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), by 2028 the sector should receive investments of around USDS 64.5 billion, focused especially on new mining projects (Green Field mines) and capacity expansion.

Attentive to these movements, Enaex Brasil has been making unprecedented investments in infrastructure, such as the Cezarina Site, located in the central region of the country and officially opened before Enaex S.A. executives during the month of May. The new industrial complex has an emulsion plant as well as an electronic initiation systems plant, and represent a significant step for the benefit of the mining, aggregates, civil construction and export segments.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Juan Andrés Errázuriz Domínguez, CEO of Enaex, Pablo Busquet Errázuriz, CFO of the company, João Sorbile, Vice-President of Enaex Brasil, in addition to the brazilian executive team.

HOW ENAEX AFRICA IMPLEMENTS AND PROMOTES ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRACTICES

Enaex Africa has implemented policies that support sustainability goals and hold them accountable for how they conduct business operations. Plastic pollution has devastating effects on the ecosystem, and the subsidiary wanted to take responsibility in this regard.

At the Secunda and Rustenburg operations, they have prioritized recycling and reuse. A significant milestone is the emulsion reprocessing plant in Secunda, where waste is diverted by reprocessing discarded emulsion back into the manufacturing process, saving costs and protecting the environment. Similarly, at the Rustenburg operations, all waste is reprocessed back into the manufacturing process.

Many products are transported and sold in bulk tanker trucks, reducing the need for plastic packaging. Additionally, most of the plastic packaging waste is sold to recycling plants. To further support this initiative, non-hazardous waste bins have been placed at the operations to encourage staff to segregate and recycle waste.

ENAEX BRASIL PRESENTS INITIATIVES ON PARENTING AT WOMEN IN MINING BRAZIL

Since 2022, Enaex has been a signatory to the Women in Mining Brasil movement, whose objective is to expand and strengthen women’s participation in the mining sector. In this context, employee Thais Costa Silva, EMTS Coordinator, was invited to participate in the Meetup “Diversity on the Agenda” with a lecture on the topic “Parenthood”.

Thais recently returned to work after a period of maternity leave and was able to share her experiences as a mother and Mining Engineer at Enaex. The lecture took place at the Mining Hub headquarters in Brazil and on this occasion Thaís was able to highlight some of the best practices that the company offers to its employees in the context of parenting. Highlight is the “Caring for the Future” program, which offers multidisciplinary guidance for pregnant women and families, as well as initiatives such as flexible working hours and daycare assistance.

The good practices to promote parenthood presented at the event are linked to Enaex’s global goal of reaching 30% of women in our workforce by 2030, an effort that we promote daily with the direct action of multiple actors.
