Enaex and the artisanal fishermen unions of Mejillones celebrated seven years of an alliance that has enabled the execution of more than 100 anhydrous ammonia unloading services at the Prillex plant. The initiative began in 2016 as a response to fishing ban periods affecting workers in the sector and the company’s need to optimize port operations.
In 2018, an agreement was signed integrating 113 members from four local unions, kicking off a joint effort that has now reached 103 continuous services, more than 2.5 million tons unloaded, 7,000 hours of operation, and 28,000 man-hours. This collaboration has created jobs for more than 400 people and generated revenue exceeding 638 million pesos as of April 2025.
The ceremony highlighted the relevance of this shared value experience, reinforcing Enaex’s sustainability strategy based on ESG criteria. Among its main achievements is zero accidents throughout all services, thanks to support from institutions such as the Port Authority, EDIL, and IMM.
This alliance has consolidated a community engagement model that promotes safety, job stability, and local development in Mejillones.
