INTERCOMPANY COLLABORATION: BLASTSCOUT, INNOVATION THAT TRANSFORMS DRILLING CONTROL

Minera Collahuasi became the first customer in Chile to implement BlastScout, a technology developed by MTi Group and integrated into the Enaex Bright ecosystem, which digitizes well measurement and replaces the traditional use of tape measures. After nine months of operation, the tool has demonstrated accuracy in QA/QC control of drilling and blasting, increased operational safety, cost savings, and increased productivity.

Measurement speed increased by 58%, reducing staff exposure to risk in line with the goal of humanizing mining. In addition, faster measurement reduces drill waiting times, with a potential productivity increase of US$570,000 per year.

BlastScout also enabled better management of overdrilling and redrilling, projecting additional savings of US$183,000 per year. The official sale in August 2025 confirmed the customer’s confidence in the solution, with benefits exceeding six times the cost of the equipment.

The implementation involved the Collahuasi Plant Technical Area (Jorge Álvarez and team), Operations (Jhon Alvarado, Baltazar Marín, Juan Arenas, Luis Godoy and team), the KAM commercial area (Patricio Cancino) and MTI Latam (Bruno Schmidt, Luis Arce and Jaime Polanco), reflecting a high-impact collaborative effort.

IMPLEMENTATION OF A DRILL INSPECTION CAMERA AT THE CERRO NEGRO MINE

Enaex Argentina recently began implementing a production drill inspection camera at the Cerro Negro Mine, located in the province of Santa Cruz and operated by Newmont. This technology allows video inspections to be carried out prior to loading explosives, facilitating observation of the internal condition of the drills and obtaining digitized images to support operational decision-making.

The tool allows for the identification of relevant conditions such as obstructions, the presence of caverns, possible faults, actual drilling length, and connected drills, which are key aspects for the correct preparation and execution of the blasting protocol and the explosives loading process.

The implementation of this technology contributes to improving the results of production blasting, both in chambers and chimneys, strengthening safety, operational efficiency, and the quality of service delivered to the customer, in line with the incorporation of innovative solutions in mining operations.

SUCCESSFUL EMERGENCY DRILL

Enaex carried out an Internal Operations Plan (IOP) exercise at the Héry Plant in France, with the aim of strengthening preparedness for emergency situations. The activity allowed the internal operational plan to be tested and enabled employees to practice the correct response procedures, including the activation of internal emergency brigades and initial firefighting measures. In total, more than 350 people participated, evacuating in an orderly and safe manner.

These types of exercises are part of Enaex’s ongoing commitment to safety, prevention, and caring for people, strengthening a culture of preparedness and response that puts its priority value at the center: Life.
