ENAEX CHILE IMPLEMENTS ROBUST FEMALE INCORPORATION PLAN

Born under the need to attract female talent, develop their skills and retain them in their jobs, Enaex Chile initiated an agile cell to work on these areas and have an immediate impact.

The program is designed with an integral approach that goes from improvements in the infrastructure of the service plants and a focused professional development plan, to mentoring and knowledge leveling.

In addition, a network of women in different positions and areas of the company was automatically created to contribute with their experience and perspective with innovative ideas and solutions, whose testimony is being told to inspire others. All this under the social pillar of our Sustainability Strategy, whose goal is to reach a 30% female workforce by 2030.

ROBOTICS PROJECT OPENS WINDOW TO THE FUTURE

A locally developed robotics project focusing on narrow reefs has been given the global nod of approval.

Marco Ruiz Hernandez, Director of Enaex Robotics, was in South Africa recently to evaluate the project that will develop a remote charging solution for narrow reefs.

Marco spent five days in-country assisting our local robotics team, headed by Ruben Olivier, to formulate a development plan and project pathway.

The visit included a two-day planning workshop, a site visit to Impala mine and discussions with local patent lawyers, as well as a meeting with a Cape Town-based robotics company to discuss a potential partnership.

It was fantastic to get an understanding of how the local team is adopting our approach to robotics to improve the safety and efficiency of our operations, to the benefit of our customers.” – Marco Ruiz said.

THE MAIN FOCUS OF ENAEX ROBOTICS IS TO ACHIEVE THREE OBJECTIVES:

  • •To offer a solution for high-risk operations, always seeking to improve people’s safety level.
  • •To make mining resources viable where, given the level of risk, a traditional operation is not implementable.
  • •To implement remote and automated operations, modernize traditional mining methods, generate a technological leap and advance productivity.

ANNUAL AMMSA TOUR VISITS CANADA

The Association of Mine Managers of South Africa (AMMSA) president, Stuart Sepetla, and 36 members of the AMMSA council visited Canada in late September.

Canada has a large and varied mining industry that includes both underground and opencast operations. The visit saw the exchange of best practices and new ideas on safety, as well as on operational matters.

Ruben Olivier, Manager: Innovation, Robotics and Central Blasting Systems (CBS), represented Enaex Africa on the technical tour as a friend of the association. “We visited a number of mines to understand their operations and share ideas from AMMSA’s side. It was also an excellent opportunity to build relationships with local miners in a relaxed atmosphere where I had the time to learn more about their challenges,” says Ruben.

The delegation also visited several mining engineering and equipment companies to look at the latest developments in robotics. “We saw a number of demonstrations such as automated bolting and the installation of wire mesh, which are very much along the lines of our thinking at Enaex. This kind of benchmarking is useful and gives us confidence in our own concepts,” says Ruben.
