CHILE
VIRTUAL REALITY ARRIVES AT DAVEYTRONIC®
Since the beginning, Enaex has always been innovating to provide the best solutions to customers. These innovations go hand in hand with our purpose of humanizing mining, together with the needs of customers who require an electronic initiation system for blasting with maximum performance and safety standards.
The conviction to deliver high technological standards in our products has led Daveytronic® to position itself as the leading detonator and electronic initiation system in the most relevant mining markets worldwide.
Along these lines, the team responsible for the support of VP Services Chile’s electronic detonators along with specialists in the field developed a new training methodology using virtual reality (VR). This makes it possible to create scenes and objects that look like a mine blasting operation, giving the user a realistic feeling thanks to the VR glasses and the equipment’s own command controls.
The benefits are multiple since it will now be possible to standardize the competencies of users with interactive and easy-to-learn training processes; conduct simulations under real errors; and reduce implementation times, giving faster solutions to customers with personnel leveled in knowledge for their operations. In addition, there is complementary material in the Enaex Academy platform for our collaborators.

CHILE
RIO LOA PLANT DIGITIZES ITS INVENTORY THANKS TO BOM PROJECT
Digital Transformation has arrived at the Rio Loa Plant to stay. The areas of Maintenance and Procurement joined forces to create the BOM (Bill of Material) Project, which seeks to digitize the physical assets of the complex and generate a library to identify and record even the smallest component.
With the help of SAP’s Plant Manager module, a tree of materials is produced with its corresponding code so that it can be navigated from the most general to the most specific aspects. This makes it possible to map 100% of the physical assets and identify spare parts that are critical for the operation of the complex located in Calama, and at the same time, keep the stock up to date.
Another benefit of BOM is that it allows loading preventive maintenance plans for each piece of equipment for the automatic generation of work orders, freeing up manual, repetitive, and low value-added work for the planner. In addition, historical analysis can be made for each piece of equipment thanks to the maintenance record that is generated and to have total traceability of equipment maintenance and spare parts used.
In the words of Julio Guerra Fernandez, Production Manager of Rio Loa Plant, this project has come to strengthen our asset management system and the safety of our processes within the framework of PSM (Process Safety Management), which will give us a clear improvement in the operation reliability of each of our production processes.

United Manganese of the Kalahari, (UMK) is a South African mining company and one of the top 3 Manganese exporters in South Africa and has the largest Manganese ore deposit globally, being one of the most important clients of Enaex Africa.
The Enaex Africa Mining Services UMK team achieved an exceptional milestone by carrying out a record blast in the Northern Cape at the UMK’s J-Block Pit. Not only was a record set for the highest number of detonators fired in a single blast in South Africa, a record was also set for the highest number of detonators connected to a single DaveyTronic Blast Driver, (DBD). The blast comprised a total of 3,618 DaveyTronic detonators of which 1,469 detonators were connected to a single DaveyTronic Blast Driver DBD.
What makes this achievement even more impressive is the fact that there were no leakages identified during the blast and the fragmentation was excellent and most importantly, the whole process was conducted safely. This achievement underscores the importance of collaboration and planning.
