Enaex reached a new milestone in its decarbonization strategy by ensuring that 95% of its energy mix comes from renewable sources, the highest level ever recorded by the company.
This result reflects sustained progress over time. In 2022, the energy mix relied entirely on the grid; in 2023, renewable energy was incorporated, reaching 68%; in 2024, the figure reached 91%; and today it stands at 95%, demonstrating a structural transformation in the energy model.
This achievement has been made possible by a combination of two key factors: the incorporation of IREC (International Renewable Energy Certificates), which account for 85% of renewable energy, and self-generation, which contributes 10% through solar plants such as Escada in Brazil, Héry in France, and Rush Valley in the United States.
With this progress, Enaex significantly reduces its Scope 2 emissions and reinforces its commitment to increasingly efficient and sustainable operations.

Barberton Mines, located in Mpumalanga, South Africa, successfully began deploying the Stopex system at the Edwin Bray pit in late January, marking a significant step forward in operational efficiency and blasting performance.
To date, two work fronts have been converted to the Stopex emulsion. During this period, Kutullo, Enaex’s Stopex technician, has trained the mine’s training facilitators, enabling them to instruct additional crews. The working faces are being charged with 2-meter boreholes, and the results have been exceptional, achieving 52 meters of advance against a target of 40 meters during the February measurement period.
To support broader adoption, other crews from the Edwin Bray shaft are participating in structured on-the-job training. Each team spends three days at the active sites, observing the loading process firsthand while receiving practical guidance from Kutullo, including fault detection techniques.
Following these excellent results, the mine has approved the expansion of the deployment to the Sheba ZK shaft. Additionally, Barberton Mines has authorized the purchase of 15 additional Stopex pumps from Netzsch to ensure operational continuity.
The recent signing of a service level agreement with Netzsch now allows for the deployment of a dedicated pump technician at the mine. Kutullo is currently training the technician in loading procedures and troubleshooting, thereby strengthening the site’s technical capabilities.
